A freshwater plant, locally known as Hogla in Bangladesh or Seagrass in other parts of the world. This plant abundantly grows along freshwater rivers banks and floodprone alluvial land of Bangladesh. The district of Noakhali and UNESCO World Heritage Sundarban is famous for it’s Hoglas. The Hogla dries its colour subtly from green to a rich reddish brown.

Hogla has been used in Bangladesh in many different ways over the centuries. Now a days it has become an essential item to produce many Handicraft items such as table mat, trays, basket of different size and shapes, floor mats and so on.
