Sataranji is actually a floor mat or carpet. It is historically related to the British Raj when it received patronage by British officials posted in this part of erstwhile British India. So, without hesitation it is part of our heritage and specifically a locally produced product of Bangladesh. Sataranji can be made from velvet, cotton or mixture of both. Jute too may be used to produce the same. Normal size ranges from 20” X 30” to 6′ X 9′. Larger size may be produced too, under special circumstances.
